MINOS experiment sheds light on mystery of neutrino disappearance from PhysOrg.com

An international collaboration of scientists at the Department of Energy's Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory announced today the first results of a new neutrino experiment. Sending a high-intensity beam of muon neutrinos from the lab's site in Batavia, Illinois, to a particle detector in Soudan, Minnesota, scientists observed the disappearance of a significant fraction of these neutrinos.

Justice League Nuclear

Since there has been a recent wave of historical revision by the media of how glorious a time the 1980's were I bring you...
A Justice Leauge for the 80's

FireHawk- The daughter of Senator Walter Reilly, Lorraine Reilly was kidnapped and transformed by Multiplex in an attempt to kill Firestorm. Multiplex's experiments gave her the ability to generate intense heat and tremendous energy blasts. As Firehawk, she also had wings of "atomic fire" enabling flight. (stolen from wiki!)

Captain Atom - The Charlton Comics version of Captain Atom, created by writer Joe Gill and artist Steve Ditko in 1960, focused upon the adventures of Captain Allen Adam. The character's origin posited Adam working in a special experimental rocket when it accidentally launched with him trapped inside. Entering the upper atmosphere, the rocket exploded and Adam was atomized. However, he somehow gained superpowers that included the ability to reform his body safely on the ground. Learning of his other powers, such as flight and the ability to fire powerful blasts, Adam decided to fight the forces of evil as Captain Atom.

Firestorm - What distinguished Firestorm most of his career was his integrated dual identity. The hero was actually two men, high school student Ronnie Raymond and Nobel Prize winning physicist Martin Stein. Caught in a nuclear accident, the two were fused together, with Raymond (awake at the time of the accident) in command of the Firestorm form and with Stein as a voice of advice inside Firestorm's mind. As befits a "nuclear man," Firestorm possessed great powers, including flight, strength, the ability to adjust his molecular density, and the ability to alter matter itself. He also stood out visually, with flaming hair and a distinctive red and yellow costume.

Atomic Skull - Joe Martin was struck by an intense blast of energy that gave him superhuman strength and premature baldness. Later attacked by some thugs, the resulting head damage caused insanity and he took on the guise of "The Atomic Skull" who was a hero from an old movie serial. He also emitted dangerous amounts of radiation, which he later gained the ability to project as energy blasts. He has plagued Superman, whom he believed to be the serial's villain, and Lois Lane, whom he saw as the Skull's love interest.
Cured of his delusions, he at first intended to follow the character's example for real as a superhero, but has since appeared as a more conventional villain.

Not picture Ronald Wilson Reagan - (February 6, 1911 – June 5, 2004) was the 40th President of the United States (1981–1989) and the 33rd Governor of California (1967–1975). Before entering politics, Reagan was also a sports broadcaster, newspaper columnist, motion picture actor, head of the Screen Actors Guild, television actor, and a motivational speaker. His speeches were so expertly delivered and persuasive that the media dubbed him the "Great Communicator".

Bad Super Hero Ideas Thursday

I-tune Random Friday

Time to relax and Listen to the I-tunes on random.

John Lennon - mother - shaved fish
All one can say is ouch! It takes quite a lot to let it all hang out and Lennon was not one to shy away from doing as such. Considering he's on neglegence as a parent it's obvious his abandonment issues were never rightly resolved but still it's a gut wrenching song.

Ice Cube - the predator - the predator
The song begins with a sample from predator 2 (the movie sans arnold) then has a Terminator sample (by The Terminator himself) in the chorus, weird! Still, This is one of the best songs on his best solo album. And I'm out, but i'll be back.

Serge Gainsbourg - sous le soleil exactement - comic strip
I've got a soft spot in my heart and head for French pop icon Serge Gainsbourg. This tune has the start stop start song structure that I've always appreciated and loved. As for content I'll admit my knowledge of French is abysmal but I'll be damned if it isn't a catchy tune.

Tuesday Justice League Day!

Tuesdays all about either creating my own line-up of Justice leaguers or talking
all about my favorite line-up. Most would say that seven is the magic number
for leaguers but I'd have to argue for five and here is one of the main reasons
why...

The Crime Syndicate of Amerika
The Crime Syndicate of Amerika is an anti-matter version of the Justice League who live in a
Universe where good is bad and right is wrong, but oddly Carlos Mencia isn't funny in either universe.
The control the U.S. from a satellite in orbit.

Ultraman
Alias: Clark Kent
An astronaut who became Ultraman when his ship imploded in deep space.
Adrift, he was discovered by the Kryptonians, who attempted to repair his broken body
with only a rudimentary understanding of human biology. As a result, the astronaut
returned to Earth was no longer human, but a powerful Kryptonian amalgamation.
Ultraman is an anti-matter version of Superman with all the powers but two key differences,
one he is powered by kryptonite and two he isn't very bright.

Superwoman
Alias: Lois Lane
An Amazon warrior, this villain journeyed to Man'’s World and, as Lois Lane, assumed the
Editor-in-Chief position of the Daily Planet. After becoming a member of the Crime
Syndicate Ultraman forced Superwoman to marry him. She has roughly the same powers
as Wonder Woman with added heat vision.

Owlman
Alias: Thomas Wayne
As a child, Thomas Wayne witnessed his mother and younger brother's gruesome murders
and blamed his father for their deaths. Seeking revenge Thomas traveled the world and
trained himself in similarar way to Batman with the exception of his use of performance
enhancing drugs. Finally, he returned to Gotham and assumed the guise of Owlman in order
to gain revenge against his father, Commissioner Thomas Wayne of Gotham City's Police
Department.

Johnny Quick
Alias:Unknown
murdered his predecessor and extracted his blood to create a superspeed drug that he has
to inject regularly. He is the Crime Syndicate's anti-matter version of the flash.

Power Ring
Alias
A Marine for many years, he was tricked by the former Power Ring into taking the ring by
telling him he was the chosen substitute to wield the ring when he couldn't. Power Ring's
Ring similarlar in power to Green Lantern's except it possesedsed by the spirit of a mad Tibetan
monk named Volthoom.

P.S. sorry about the bad drawing I'm trying to practice my Adobe Illustrator skillz!

Here goes nothing!

This week Kid Flash.
For Kid Flash I went with a alien type costume.
I went very simple with the classic red and yellow.
The eyes are protected with bug-like domes and to
continue with the insect look two lighting bolt like
antenna on the brow.
The circle and lighting bolt are replaced with a yellow
bolt and the feet are covered in high-top running boots.
